New Zealand’s Aluminium Smelter

Brand / Communications / Strategy

To celebrate their 50th year of operation New Zealand’s Aluminium Smelter (NZAS) operated by Rio Tinto came to Brooke wanting a creative solution to communicate their story, people, place and product. As long standing and significant contributors to the local and national economy; NZAS has a wealth of stories to tell – the question was – how can we tell them?

Initially, we conceived the idea of a road show. A mobile exhibition that would travel to the regions NZAS have direct relationships with – Southland, Christchurch, Wellington, Hamilton and Auckland. After scoping this approach we realised it would be a logistic challenge and not a fit for purpose solution.

We loved the idea of an exhibition though. A space where we could profile our people, talk about our product and its impact on technology and global advancement, our commitment to sustainable production and our contribution to New Zealand’s economy. Let’s create a digital exhibition we said…

What eventuated is an online exhibition – www.tiwaistories.co.nz.

Thinking about our business, audiences and specific users we created a website that would have broad appeal and solve a multitude of organisational needs. We worked with our digital partners (Flight Digital) and our favourite production house (Flying Saucer) to create content and build a site that is adaptable, responsive and, most importantly an immersive experience.
